[March 26, 2009]  Lincoln College is giving jazz enthusiasts an opportunity to listen to some favorite music from the past to the present.

DonutsThe Lincoln College Jazz Ensemble will present a concert on April 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Johnston Center for Performing Arts on the Lincoln campus.

This year's concert will have a variety of musical selections. The program will feature songs from the swing band era and range to more contemporary numbers.

Lincoln College music instructor Scott Woger, who directs the show, says music lovers will enjoy the evening. "The program opens with swing music that will have everyone in the audience tapping their feet," he said. "We have some talented kids who I'm very proud of. They have worked very hard this semester to produce a program that is similar to a professional one that you could see at a well-known venue."

Earlier this month, the Lincoln College Jazz Ensemble earned honors of musical excellence at the 42nd Elmhurst Jazz Festival. Three students will be recognized at the concert for their accomplishments: Kenny Rhoda of Philadelphia, Pa., Abby Hammer of Clinton and Alex Williams of Lincoln.

Admission to the concert is $1 and is open to the public.
