Lincoln Police Department reports for Monday, May 4
Accident on April 24 at 8:49 a.m.; on Woodlawn Road at Taylor Court
--Elaine C. Clark, 31-year-old female, Lincoln; 2003 Honda
Odyssey EXL
--Walter H. Sablotny III, 35-year-old male, Lincoln; 1994 Dodge
Shadow
Sablotny stated that he was eastbound in the outside lane and
stopped at the stoplight at the intersection of Woodlawn Road and
Taylor Court. Sablotny looked in his mirror and saw Clark
approaching his vehicle from behind, also in the outside lane, at a
high rate of speed. Sablotny did not believe Clark was going to
stop, so he started to move, planning to make a right-hand turn onto
Taylor Court. Sablotny was unable to make his turn, and Clark
slammed into the rear of his vehicle, causing it to spin, coming to
rest facing westbound on the shoulder.
Sablotny, Clark and a 2-year-old from Clark's vehicle were all
taken by ambulance to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Sablotny
was treated and later released. The 2-year-old was not injured and
was released to family. Clark was admitted for monitoring.
Clark was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid
an accident, with a mandatory court date June 2. She was not
interviewed due to her medical condition.
