Jackie Aper's selfless nature
was what prompted an Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital co-worker to
nominator her for employee of the month for May.
Aper, a technician in rehabilitation services, has worked at ALMH
for three years. She is a native of Mount Pulaski.

"She doesn't hesitate to lend a helping hand, no matter what is
asked of her and no matter how much of her own work she has to do,"
says her nominator, Carolyn Marten. "Jackie goes above and beyond in
everything she does, whether it concerns her job, helping someone
else or interacting with patients."
Her role, Marten adds, helps the rehab department run more
smoothly.
Aper says her job requires great customer service skills,
organization skills and computer knowledge. Her day-to-day duties
include scanning documents, chart organization, discharges and
maintaining cleanliness throughout the department. She also covers
the front desk when needed, greeting patients and their families,
answering phones, scheduling patients, and taking doctors' phone
orders.
Technicians must be very detail-oriented and be able to multitask
often, Aper says. Marten says Aper takes it a step forward, being
very pleasant to everyone -- always aiming to create great patient
experiences.

But the best part of her job, Aper says, is that she enjoys coming
to work.
"Everyone in our department works well together and is always
offering to help each other out," she says. "They are like a second
family to me."
ALMH employs more than 290 in a wide variety of job functions. A
different employee is honored each month for their commitment to
creating great patient experiences, getting great results and making
ALMH a great place to work.
