Agriculture, livestock futures advance on the CBOT

[May 09, 2009]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures traded higher Friday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for July delivery surged 20.75 cents to $5.91 a bushel, while July corn jumped 9 cents to $4.21 a bushel and July oats rose 9 cents to $2.26 a bushel. Soybeans for July delivery edged up 9.5 cents to $11.115 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef and pork futures also advanced on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

June live cattle rose 0.95 cent to 82.97 cents a pound; August feeder cattle jumped 1.63 cents to $1.007 a pound; June lean hogs rose 1.43 cents to 68.2 cents a pound; and July pork bellies gained 1.6 cents to 80 cents a pound.
