[May 09, 2009]  INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (AP) -- The Skins Game, a Thanksgiving weekend tradition in golf for nearly three decades, has been postponed this year because of the economic downturn.

Organizers said Friday they plan to resume the event in 2010.

The Skins Game has been a staple of the PGA Tour's "silly season," beginning in 1983 with Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson. But it has struggled to attract marquee players over the last couple of years.

K.J. Choi won last year at Indian Wells Golf Resort, beating a field that included Phil Mickelson, Rocco Mediate and Stephen Ames.
