Agriculture futures trade mixed on the CBOT

[May 15, 2009]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures were mixed Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for July delivery jumped 4.5 cents to $5.9325 a bushel, while July corn rose 1.75 cents to $4.2825 a bushel and July oats slipped 0.5 cent to $2.28 a bushel. Soybeans for July delivery surged 19.5 cents to $11.475 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef futures advanced and pork futures traded lower on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

June live cattle edged up 0.3 cent to 82.8 cents a pound; August feeder cattle rose 0.43 cent to $1.017 a pound; June lean hogs lost 0.95 cent to 67 cents a pound; and July pork bellies fell 2 cents to 73.55 cents a pound.
