FFA members receive awards at 70th annual recognition program

HARTSBURG -- The 70th annual
awards and recognition program for Hartsburg-Emden FFA was on May 14
in the high school cafeteria. Andrew Heavner, the Illinois state FFA
secretary, was the keynote speaker.

Star awards were presented as follows: Star Greenhands: Karly
Anderson, Kelsi Ubbenga and Allisa Hoerbert; Star Farmer: Adam
Cross; Star in Agribusiness: Nolan Lessen; and Star in Agribusiness
Placement: Kane Hoerbert and Alex Lessen. The DeKalb Award
recipient was Danielle Horn. The Blue and Gold Award went to David
Neuendorf and Tarel Stancle. The Christopher Gehrke Memorial
recipient was Adam Cross.
Candidates for the State FFA Degree are Danielle Horn, Alex
Lessen, Adam Cross and Nolan Lessen. Candidate for the American
Degree is Kelly Cross.
New officers for 2009-2010 are Kortney Hoerbert, president;
Douglas Alberts and Josh Clark, co-vice presidents; Tommy Zinser,
secretary; Tim Hilgendorf, treasurer; Taylor Hassebrock and Jamie
Everhart, reporters; Butch Patterson, sentinel; and student council
representatives Christopher Crane, Jordan West, Erik Schafer and
Jeremy Hinch.
