Extension unit to sponsor bingo
The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor the bingo games at
The Oasis on Thursday, May 21, beginning at 1 p.m.
Alzheimer's support group to meet
The Alzheimer support group will meet in the library at The Oasis
on Thursday, May 21, beginning at 1 p.m. No reservations are
necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers
and extended family and is facilitated by a coordinator from Maple
Ridge Care Centre. |
The Oasis,
Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is
open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center
also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director.
Activities are open to all Logan
County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The
Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced
rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or

Memories class The Memories class will meet in the library
at the senior center on Thursday, May 21, beginning at 3:45 p.m.
Participants are asked to bring their own pen and paper to learn
skills needed to preserve memories for families and friends
Oasis board meeting
The Oasis board of directors will meet on Thursday, May 21,
beginning at 5 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. To schedule
any agenda items, the board must receive notification in writing on
or before the fifth day of the month prior to a meeting date.
Oasis closed
The Oasis will be closed Monday, May 25, to observe Memorial Day.
Activities will resume the following day.
Tuesday's lunch
The 11:30 a.m. lunch for May 26 will feature hard-shell tacos,
salad, tortilla chips, salsa and dessert. The suggested donation is
$3.75; or, if you stay to play cards, the suggested cost is $3.25.
The reservation deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, May 22.

Card winners
The winners for weekday pinochle were Alice Petro and Betty
Oltmanns. The weekend pinochle winners were Helen Stephenson and
Esther Will.
Senior bowling
The Oasis partnered with Logan Lanes for Senior Fun Day. The
colored pin winners were Jan Eskra, Jan Van Bibber, Carol Schauer,
Connie Dehner, Bob Tumbleson, Kenny Darker, Linda Trommer, Marilyn
Davis and Albertine McGee. High game winners were Bob Tumbleson and
Jan Eskra, and most improved was Jan Van Bibber. Linda Trommer and
Kenny Darker had the low game.
