[May 22, 2009]  NORMAL -- Lincoln Chill lost the first game of a doubleheader 3-2 in Normal on Thursday.

Kallie Rogers scored once. Brianne Painter had a hit and a run. Ashlyn Glick had a hit and an RBI. Heather Vancleve had a hit. Taylor Sparrow had a hit and threw 11 strikeouts at the plate for the Chill. Taylor also had a no-hitter at the mound. Her first baseman, Ashlyn Glick, helped save it with an awesome catch.

The Chill coaches were very pleased with the excellent pitching and aggressiveness the girls showed in the first game.

In the second game Lincoln Chill lost 12-11 in an international tie-breaker.

Jordan Wood and Taylor Sparrow made great efforts at the mound for Chill. Jordan Wood and Ashlyn Getchel both scored once. Jessica Plummer scored twice. Kaitlyn Hasprey had two hits and one run scored. Ashlyn Glick had one hit, one run and one RBI. Ashley Poole had two hits and two runs. Heather Vancleve had two hits, one run and two RBIs. Taylor Sparrow toughed out the night with three hits, two runs scored and one RBI.

"This team is a tough bunch of girls and battles back every time," the Chill coaches said. "We hope to gain a better defense to help our pitchers out so that we will see some more wins in the book. The girls gave it their best and we just came up a little short tonight. Next game will be a new one."
