Get ready for some fun this
summer at the Lincoln Public Library Summer Reading Program, "Read
on the Wild Side!" Registration week for 6 months through age 12
will be June 1-6. During sign-up week, stations for children to play
games will be set up in the Annex.
|
If you cannot register that week, come in as soon as possible after
that date to get started. Activities for the summer will culminate
with an awards program on July 30 at 10 a.m. The reading program
for teens will run June 8 to July 18 with special prize drawings
each week and a grand prize drawing in July. Teens are also invited
to enter a video contest promoting the library or enter a special
reading contest to win a Wii player. Call 732-5732 for more
information.
Activities, reading requirements and logs are by age categories.
Participants may sign up to read for prizes, attend programs, craft
classes or story times. Since everyone may choose the parts that fit
best with busy family summer vacations, participation in each
activity requires a separate registration. All events are free,
although advance registration is required for accurate planning.
Thursday events this year will again be sponsored through
Weyerhaeuser grant funds. Madcap Puppets, Nitro Joe, Ronald
McDonald, Silly Safari, Illinois raptors and others will entertain
all ages at 10 a.m. in the Annex. Advance registration is required
for these events.

Area schools' summer reading goals for their students are posted,
and accumulations of books read are updated each Monday. Schools who
meet the goal set by their school staff will receive a trophy for
their school library.
Please remember that children under the age of 8 years must be
accompanied by an adult at the library at all times. Call 732-5732
for more information.
