ALMH sets June 2 for groundbreaking ceremony for replacement hospital

[May 26, 2009]  Representatives from Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital and Springfield Clinic will join community leaders June 2 in turning over the first shovelfuls of dirt at the site where construction will soon begin on Lincoln's replacement hospital and physicians' office building. The new hospital will be located on Business 55 south of Woodlawn, adjacent to the Logan County Fairgrounds.

DonutsThe official groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of construction of the 116,000-square-foot hospital and 21,000-square-foot physician office building, will begin at noon. Parking for the ceremony will be available at the fairgrounds.

Construction is expected to take at least 18 months. The new hospital is expected to be finished by December 2010 or early in 2011.

The architect for the project is Pansing Nolan Matlock, Ltd. of Webster Groves, Mo. The contractor for the project is Harold O'Shea Builders of Springfield.
