St. Clara's Manor will sponsor the bingo games at The Oasis on Thursday, May 28, beginning at 1 p.m.

Free blood pressure checks

The Oasis offers free blood pressure checking every Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director.

Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

The Self Help and Resource Exchange program distribution date at The Oasis is Friday, May 29, between 4 and 5:30 p.m. The program is an outreach sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Peoria. For more details, you may contact the senior center at 732-6132.

Oasis Belles

The Oasis Red Hat group, Oasis Belles, will meet on Tuesday, June 2, beginning at 11 a.m. After the meeting, lunch is available for purchase. Lunch reservations are needed, and the deadline is noon Monday, June 1.

Free hearing tests

Hearing screenings will be available Wednesday, June 3, between 10 and 11:30 a.m. at the senior center, by appointment only. Joyce Dearth, B.C.H.I.S., provides the service from the Hearing Aid Center. Please call 732-6132 for more information.

Diabetes class

Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital dietitian Jennifer DiPasquale will instruct a diabetes class at The Oasis each Wednesday during June. The class starts June 3 and will begin at 10 a.m. Topics to be covered include managing diabetes, healthy eating, blood glucose, ABCs of diabetes and caring for gestational diabetes. There is no charge, and no reservations are needed for this class.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for June 2 features chopped steak with mushroom gravy, cheesy potatoes, peas and dessert. The suggested donation is $3.75; or, if you stay to play cards, the suggested cost is $3.25. The reservation deadline is noon Monday, June 1.

Card winners

The winners for weekday pinochle were Larry Van Bibber and Ruth Aper. The weekend pinochle winners were Mary Jane Anderson and Ruth Ackerman.
