Saturday, June 6, at 9 a.m. is the beginning of our annual D.A.R.E.-sponsored
free Fishing Derby. Join us at Hickory Lane Campground in
Atlanta and compete to win great prizes. Sgt. Greenslate will be
there with the wiener wagon offering dogs, chips and sodas for
lunch. Worms will be provided and anglers will need to supply their
own poles. Jump on in! Saturday, June 6, at 1 p.m. officially
marks the beginning of our swimming pool season. A $5 early
bird savings is available before June 1. Call 732-8770 for price
quotes on individual or family packages.
We welcome Megan Farmer, graduate of U of I with a major in
Spanish, as our Spanish instructor. Megan will offer lessons
for young people beginning Monday, June 8, at 9 a.m. This is a great
opportunity for students taking Spanish at the high school level
this fall. This is a Monday-through-Friday offering hosted here at
the park district.
Ms. Farmer will also offer Spanish lessons for adults on
Tuesday evenings. Classes will begin at 6:30 and will be
approximately one hour. Classes are scheduled for four weeks.
Register now and make your Spanish-speaking vacation destination a
little more enjoyable.
Julie Harris Larson joins us again for tennis lessons.
From peewee to young adults, Julie has a game for you. Learn the
fundamentals through fun games and drills, and benefit from Julie's
vast knowledge of the game. Meet Julie on our indoor courts starting
Tuesday, June 9. Classes are by age divisions and will meet at the
same time through the rest of the week.

Tee ball is still accepting registrations. Coaches Chris
Ciaccio and Brooke Eeten will teach the fundamentals of baseball,
including hitting, fielding, throwing and base- running. Emphasis is
on sportsmanship, teamwork and fun! All athletes must wear sneakers
and have their own ball glove. Tee ball is played on Breezy Field.
In case of bad weather, play will be on our indoor courts. Tee ball
will run for six weeks on Saturday mornings.
Registrations are also being accepted now for Funny Business
101 with Julie Larson, nationally syndicated cartoonist; Golf
Camp with instructor Jim Dunovsky; and Drama Camp with
director Chris Gray. All of these are awesome opportunities to
expose your young people to some of Lincoln's most talented people.
