[May 30, 2009]  NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Mets have traded backup catcher Ramon Castro and cash to the Chicago White Sox for right-hander Lance Broadway.

DonutsCastro hit .253 with three homers and 13 RBIs in 26 games this season with New York. Castro was made expendable by the play of rookie Omir Santos, who drove in both runs in the Mets' 2-1 victory over the Florida Marlins in 11 innings on Friday night.

Broadway is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA in eight games with the White Sox this season. Mets general manager Omar Minaya says he will be assigned to Triple-A Buffalo and work as a starter.
