LC hung tough in set one until a late run by Parkland led to a 25-16
victory. Set two was not much of a contest as the Cobras jumped out
to an early lead, then cruised to a 25-11 win. Set three saw LC put
up more of a fight. Lincoln showed a more aggressive attitude and
worked their way to an early seven-point advantage. However,
Parkland showed why they were ranked No. 1 in the final NJCAA DII
national poll as they climbed back into the set and eventually tied
the score at 16. LC battled to the end but eventually fell 25-23.
Lincoln finished the season with an overall record of 27-12.

Comments from LC coach Mark Tippett:
"We knew going into this match we would have to figure out how to
slow down a strong offense, so our goal was to play as aggressively
as possible. I was encouraged by our early performance, but we were
unable to get a consistent enough pass to run a balanced offense.
Most of the time we were in scramble mode, which is not an easy way
to win against a team as powerful as Parkland. We never got out of
the gate in set two, but I was proud of the way we played the final
set. Our players showed a lot of heart and we went down fighting
hard, which is all any coach can ask for.
"We had a fabulous season, and I had a wonderful time working
with this team. I believe the players had fun this year, which makes
the success we had all the more enjoyable."
