[November 10, 2009]  The Route 66 Heritage Foundation of Logan County is pleased to announce its newest fundraising project. Logan County author Mike Fak has been making the rounds discussing the first of what could be many books on The Mill. He brought his idea to the foundation about how much history happened inside The Mill. The foundation feels those stories need to be put together in a great collection regarding this historic iconic structure and preserved for generations to come.

RestaurantFak and the foundation hope to hear from everyone who has fond or maybe not-so-fond stories about things that happened at The Mill. All of it will be compiled in volumes of books reminiscent of the days of The Mill.

Also combined with this collection of stories will be a selection of recipes from The Mill and from the community.

Anyone who is interested in submitting their recipes, their stories, their memories or photos should contact the foundation at 217-732-8687 or by e-mailing themillbook@msn.com. Also needed is anyone who is interested in helping with the collection of stories. The foundation and Fak look forward to learning all about what great stories this community has about this great piece of history.

Everyone who adds anything to the book will have their name listed in the acknowledgements as a contributing author.

All proceeds from this project will go toward the restoration project at The Mill. The foundation hopes to have the restoration completed in late 2010 and open as a museum showcasing Route 66 and Logan County.
