Flood warning for Logan County

[November 17, 2009]  The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a flood warning for Logan County until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

At 1:28 p.m. Tuesday, numerous creeks and streams across Logan County were nearing flood stage as a result of between 3 and 4 inches of rain over the past 48 hours. In particular, both Salt Creek and Lake Fork were rising rapidly and expected to spill out of their banks later in the day.

Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flooding to occur. Some locations that will experience flooding are Lincoln, Atlanta, Beason, Chestnut, Cornland, Elkhart, Emden, Hartsburg, Latham, Middletown, Mount Pulaski and San Jose.

Precautionary, preparedness actions:

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, and farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

Report any flooding to your local emergency manager or the nearest law enforcement agency for relay to the National Weather Service office in Lincoln.
