The
Humane Society of Logan County will offer a Pet Food Pantry
on Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at their office at 113 S.
Sangamon Ave. in Lincoln (next to the Blue Dog). Cat and dog food
will be available while the supply lasts. HSLC will also accept
donations of pet food during the event.

The 1st State Bank of Mason City and Illini Central High School
are pleased to present Haylie Stone with the October Student
of the Month Award. For demonstrating outstanding character, Haylie
receives a $50 savings bond from 1st State Bank and a reference work
appropriate to her course of study from the Illini Central High
School faculty.
Haylie is the daughter Corey and Jodi Stone. Her classes this
year are Human Physiology, Illinois History, AP Chemistry, AP
Literature and Composition, Spanish III and Foods.
In addition, Haylie keeps busy with several extracurricular
activities. She is a member of several academic groups: National
Honor Society, of which she is president; Family, Career, and
Community Leaders of America, which she also serves as president;
Spanish Club; and Science Club. She also plays on the volleyball
team.
Outside of school, Haylie is a member of Ignition, First
Christian Church's youth group.
Haylie plans to attend the University of Illinois Springfield,
where she will major in biology and play volleyball.
Kyley Wyss has been named October Senior-of-the-Month at
Mount Pulaski High School. Kyley is the daughter of John and Erin
Wyss of Mount Pulaski and Holly and Travis Surprenant of Washington.
Kyley has been a high honor roll student every semester and is a
two-year member of National Honor Society. She is a four-year member
of Drama Club and was a two-year member of the student council. She
has been a Spanish Club member, serving as president for two years,
and she is a four-year member of Spirit Squad, serving now as vice
president. She was a member of the band her sophomore year. She has
competed with other students through Worldwide Youth in Science and
Engineering for three years. She has been a very active member of
Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, holding the office
of Section 12 Executive Council president for two years, chapter
president for two years, chapter vice president for one year and
foundation officer for one year.
She is a four-year member of the award-winning Toppers volleyball
team, and she participated on the track team for two years.
Kyley worked for two summers as a lifeguard at the Mount Pulaski
Park District pool and for one year at Pizza Man of Mount Pulaski.
Kyley plans to attend the University of Illinois as a pre-med
student majoring in biology.
The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored jointly by Mount
Pulaski Pharmacy and Johnson's Food Center of Mount Pulaski. Monthly
winners receive $100 savings bonds and are eligible to compete for
the $1,000 Senior-of-the-Year award.

Seniors in the LCHS choir ham it up for the camera as they

Department. The remaining two performances are a dinner show tonight
at 6:30 and a dessert-only matinee Sunday afternoon at 3. Doors open
30 minutes before each show. Seniors taking part in the performance
