Open house in Elkhart on Dec. 5 for event planners

[November 23, 2009]  ELKHART -- Looking for a special-event destination for a wedding, birthday, anniversary celebration, wedding vow renewal ceremony, reunion, graduation or prom party, memorial service, group event, convention-conference outing, party, murder mystery or treasure hunt dinner, bar mitzvah, baptism, bridal or baby shower? HardwareAn open house on Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. formally kicks off Elkhart's commitment to become central Illinois' premier special-event destination. The open house will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Elkhart Township Hall, at the corner of Gov. Oglesby and Bogardus streets, behind A to Z Antiques in historic downtown Elkhart.

If you are planning a special event, if you're a wedding or event planner, tourism professional, media business, convention or hotel center, Elkhart invites you to come and see what the village has to offer.

Samples, displays and information will be provided by the following Elkhart businesses during the open house: Bird Song Books and Vintage, Blue Moon Pub, Bluestem Bake Shop, Central Illinois Event Catering, Digital Memories Photography, Dragonfly Art Studio, Elkhart Historical Society, Feel Good Again Massage Therapy Services, Hair Hut, Horsefeathers Antiques and Gift Shop, Illini Bank, Lincoln Land String Quartet, Old Gillett Farm, Promises to Keep Wedding Cakes, The Ramblin' Elk Music Sanctuary & Wander Years, and The Wild Hare Café.

Maps will be available during the open house for self-directed tours of the event facilities, restaurants and points of interest in the village. Elkhart memorabilia and souvenirs will be for sale.
