[October 02, 2009]  MIAMI, Okla. (AP) -- A northeast Oklahoma man faces assault charges after allegedly trying to run over a police officer with a horse.

Ottawa County prosecutors are charging a 39-year-old man with assaulting a police officer and with domestic abuse and assault and battery. He's currently free on $6,300 bond.

An affidavit said officers went to the man's home Sunday to investigate a domestic violence report and were interviewing a woman the suspect rode up to the home on a horse.

The report said the man refused to get off the horse and when an officer reached for him he began leading the horse around the officers in an effort to knock them down.

He's also accused of kicking one officer in the leg after being carried to a patrol car and of spitting on another officer.
