[October 03, 2009]  Line dancing

The Oasis has line dancing on Monday, Oct. 5, beginning at 10 a.m. at the senior center. The instructor is Bev McRoberts.

Oasis Red Hats

The Oasis Belles will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the senior center. Plan to stay for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Please make reservations Monday, Oct. 5.

The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director.

Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Tuesday's lunch

The lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday features spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, garlic bread and dessert. The suggested donation is $3.75, or if you stay to play cards, the cost is $3.25. The reservation deadline is noon Monday, Oct. 5.

Hearing tests

The Oasis will host free hearing screenings Wednesday, Oct. 7, beginning at 10 a.m., by appointment only. This service is provided by Joyce Dearth, B.C.H.I.S., from the Hearing Aid Center.

Oasis potluck

Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, for the monthly potluck, featuring pork loin, salads, special dishes and wonderful desserts. There is no charge for food or beverage provided at this event. If you do not bring a dish to pass and wish to make a donation, the suggested amount is $3. Stay for bingo games, sponsored by Christian Village, and the monthly drawing.

Book club

Come and join the senior center's book club on Monday, Oct. 12, beginning at 1 p.m. Refreshments are provided.

Nursing Homes

Card games

The Oasis plays all sorts of card games for your entertainment. The pinochle group meets Tuesday-Friday at noon and on Friday nights and Sunday nights at 6. Check with the senior center for days and times of other groups.

Card winners

Daytime pinochle winner was Lucky Downey. Weekend pinochle winners were Marjorie Reiners and Linda Hughes. The five-in-one winner was Betty Burger.
