[October 03, 2009]  Biking Blast -- This family bike RIDE has been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11. There will be well-marked courses of five miles with great scenic routes for the entire family to enjoy and approximately 30 miles for the enthusiasts. Ride will start at the YMCA Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue at 12:30 p.m.

Adult fitness -- Have you heard? The Y Fitness Crew is BACK! Don't miss out on these great fitness programs: Tuesdays, Dance Fitness, which highlights a variety of dance genres that will get you into shape; Thursdays, Punch/Kick Fitness, a mix of kickboxing, dance and martial arts. Sign up for six weeks of classes and get generous savings. Classes are at the YMCA Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue.

Registration forms are now available for the Oct. 9 and 12 School's Out Fun Days at the YMCA Activity Center, 719 Wyatt Ave. Both dates are available for children in District 27, and C-EL students can join the fun on Oct. 12. These are thematically planned, fun-filled "mini-camp" days offered to kindergarten to sixth-grade children on weekdays when school is not in session. YMCA Before and After School staff officiates activities, lessons, playtime and more. Fee increases apply after registration deadlines, which are two weeks prior to each Fun Day.

Lincoln Area YMCA art instructor Marion Doble will offer Printmaking Art at the YMCA Activity Center on Monday, Oct. 12, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. First- to sixth-grade children can try their hand at carving their own print plate, putting "ink" on the surface, laying paper on top and creating their own prints. This class will follow traditions of master artists and printmakers Leonardo Da Vinci and Edward Munch. Member and nonmember rates apply. Fees increase after the Oct. 5 registration deadline.

Nursing Homes

Halloween party -- On Friday, Oct. 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. the YMCA will host a Halloween party at the YMCA Activity Center for children in first through fifth grade. There will be fun games and activities, plus pizza and drinks. Dress in your scariest or wackiest costumes to win great prizes. Register at the Y office by Oct 27.
