Agriculture futures soar, livestock prices mixed

[October 07, 2009]  Agriculture futures were mostly higher early Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for December delivery jumped 11.25 cents to $4.54 a bushel; December corn soared 18.5 cents to $3.60 a bushel; November soybeans leapt 20 cents to $9.05 a bushel; and oats for December delivery gained 7 cents to $2.29 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef futures fell as pork prices rose on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

October live cattle dropped 0.07 cent to 82.60 cents a pound; October feeder cattle lost 0.45 cent to 92.90 cents a pound; October lean hogs added 0.85 cent to 49.90 cents a pound; and February pork bellies edged up 0.05 cent to 77.75 cents a pound.
