Agriculture futures leap, livestock prices up

[October 13, 2009]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures leapt Monday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for December delivery jumped 15.5 cents to $4.835 a bushel; December corn climbed 11.25 cents to $3.735 a bushel; November soybeans surged 21 cents to $9.85 a bushel; and oats for December delivery soared 12 cents to $2.52 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef and pork futures were mostly higher on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

December live cattle added 0.25 cent to 85.20 cents a pound; November feeder cattle shed 0.32 cent to 94.15 cents a pound; December lean hogs gained 0.83 cent to 53.60 cents a pound; and February pork bellies rose 0.45 cent to 84.70 cents a pound.
