Agriculture futures trade higher on the CBOT

[October 20, 2009]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures advanced Monday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for December delivery soared 19 cents to $5.1775 a bushel, while December corn jumped 14.25 cents to $3.8625 a bushel and oats for December delivery climbed 7.5 cents to $2.59 a bushel. November soybeans surged 18.75 cents to $9.9625 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef and pork futures also traded higher on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

December live cattle gained 0.65 cent to 86.45 cents a pound; November feeder cattle rose 0.4 cent to 95.52 cents a pound; December lean hogs slipped 0.05 cent to 54.05 cents a pound; and February pork bellies edged up 0.1 cent to 81.95 cents a pound.
