Agriculture futures trade higher on the CBOT

[October 22, 2009]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures advanced Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for December delivery surged 25 cents to $5.425 a bushel, while December corn jumped 13.75 cents to $3.9825 a bushel and oats for December delivery rose 4 cents to $2.63 a bushel. November soybeans soared 26 cents to $10.085 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef and pork futures also traded higher on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

December live cattle edged up 0.92 cent to 87.07 cents a pound; November feeder cattle climbed 1.02 cents to 96.22 cents a pound; December lean hogs gained 0.8 cent to 53.67 cents a pound; and February pork bellies rose 1.05 cents to 81.5 cents a pound.
