[October 27, 2009]  The St. John United Church of Christ Youth Group in Lincoln will honor the veterans of Logan County on Sunday, Nov. 8. This will be the eighth year the group has invited the veterans currently living in Logan County, in addition to inviting any veterans they are aware of who were deployed from Logan County for any war or conflict. This evening is for veterans and their spouse or guest only and will be at the American Legion in Lincoln, 1740 Fifth St.

The evening begins with the youth serving a light meal at 5 o'clock and continues with an evening of fellowship, door prizes, refreshments and dancing. The variety of music from 5 to 8 p.m. will be provided by the Don Smith Band this year. During a special time in the evening the band will play a tribute to each branch of the U.S. services.

The youth sponsors are Jonathan and Tami Pagel.

The St. John Youth Group invites any veteran who did not get a personal invitation to let the group know of your service by calling Tonita Reifsteck, 217-732-9796, or the church, 217-732-6957, to make a reservation, preferably by Nov. 1.

Monday, Nov. 2 -- Lincoln Masonic Center, 2022 N. Kickapoo; noon-6 p.m.
