The S&P rallied 2.3 percent on Thursday, while the Nasdaq jumped 1.8 percent. Meanwhile, bond prices mostly rose Friday. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note, which moves opposite its price, fell to 3.47 percent from 3.50 percent late Thursday. The yield on the three-month T-bill, considered one of the safest investments, rose to 0.07 percent from 0.05 percent. The dollar was mixed against other major currencies, while gold prices fell. Overseas, Japan's Nikkei stock average rose 1.5 percent. In afternoon trading, Britain's FTSE 100 gained 0.2 percent, Germany's DAX index fell 0.3 percent, and France's CAC-40 declined 0.2 percent.
