'Safe Ride' available on Halloween

[October 30, 2009]  There's a safe alternative to drinking and driving for those who have too much to drink on Halloween.

"Safe Ride" is a FREE ride home, sponsored by the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Task Force, an initiative of the Healthy Communities Partnership. It will not transport riders to another bar, and the service is available within Lincoln city limits only.

"Because Halloween is on Saturday this year, we decided this is one way we can help keep our streets safer on a night when children and families are more apt to be enjoying activities away from home," says Kristi Lessen, director of the Healthy Communities Partnership.

To receive a free ride home on Halloween night, ask a bartender or call the cab company, American Cab of Lincoln, at 735-9696.
