Lincoln Police Department reports for Monday, Aug. 31

--Jeremiah C. Varble, 30-year-old male, Lincoln; 2007 Ford F250 Series

Varble was westbound on Broadway Street and remembers getting ready to cross the railroad tracks between Chicago Street and Sangamon Street. The next thing he remembers is talking to a male by his truck who told him he hit a pole. Varble thought he might have had a seizure. He has a history of seizures and takes phenobarbital for them.

A witness was on Sangamon Street at Broadway Street. He saw Varble traveling westbound and then swerve south. The witness thought he was going to be hit by Varble, but Varble hit a pole. The witness saw him with his hands clenched and apparently having a seizure.

Accident on Aug. 25 at 4 p.m.; North Logan Street, 66 feet north of Delavan Street

--Emogene Thomas, 85-year-old female, Lincoln; 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis LS

--James J. Bradburn, 24-year-old male, Lincoln; 1996 Chevrolet Conventional Cab 4x2

Bradburn was northbound on North Logan Street, slowing and stopping behind a van that was turning left onto Tremont Street. Thomas was also northbound on Logan Street, and as Bradburn was stopped, Thomas failed to stop and struck Bradburn's vehicle.

Thomas and Bradburn were both out of their vehicles when the responding officer arrived. Both said they were fine and had no injuries.

The officer asked if there were any passengers in their vehicles. Bradburn said he had a passenger, but she was fine. The officer called for Lincoln Rescue and Logan County Paramedics as an air bag had deployed in Thomas' vehicle. Once paramedics arrived on the scene they advised that the passenger in Bradburn's vehicle was going to be transported to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

--Billy W. Blackstock, 53-year-old male, San Jose; 2001 Dodge Ram van

Vaughan said he was westbound in the outer lane on Keokuk Street, approaching Ottawa Street. He said Richardson was traveling the same direction and started passing him. He said Richardson went into the eastbound lanes, and as she swerved back she lost control and started spinning when her car struck Blackstock's vehicle. Blackstock was traveling eastbound in the inner lane.

Blackstock said he was eastbound on Keokuk Street when he saw Richardson passing Vaughan westbound. Blackstock said Vaughan floated into the lane where Richardson was. Blackstock said that Richardson swerved into the eastbound lanes and attempted to swerve back into the westbound lanes but lost control and started spinning. Blackstock said his vehicle hit Richardson's, causing damage to both units.

A witness said she was behind Vaughan and Richardson and saw Richardson attempting to pass Vaughan. The witness said Vaughan floated into Richardson's lane. Richardson swerved into the eastbound lanes, tried to swerve back, lost control on the wet pavement and struck Blackstock's vehicle.

Both Blackstock and Vaughan said they thought Richardson was traveling at a high rate of speed when passing Vaughan.
