[September 02, 2009]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn says he'll appoint five new members to the University of Illinois board of trustees on Friday.

HardwareQuinn spokesman Bob Reed says Quinn made the statement during an event Tuesday in Quincy.

Seven trustees on the nine-member board resigned in the wake of the school's admissions scandal.

Quinn last week named Chicago businessman Christopher Kennedy and former federal prosecutor Lawrence Oliver II to two of the posts.

Illinois faculty members say they'd like to see one of their own on the board. Alumni, meanwhile, have said they believe at least some of the trustees should be U of I graduates.
