[September 08, 2009]  What do Harry Potter, the Chicago Board of Trade and an IMAX theater movie have in common? They are all parts of the Chicago, Communications, Careers trip that 40 4-H members took part in. These 4-Hers were from the West Central Region of University of Illinois Extension and traveled to Chicago this summer. All activities during the trip centered on communications techniques and career choices. The 4-H members from Logan County who went were Zachary Fanning, Caroline Huff, J.J. Orr, Michelle Paulus and Troy Rawlings.

The 4-Hers were fascinated by the frantic trading on the floor of Chicago Board of Trade just before closing of the markets and learned how to make some sense of what appeared to be very chaotic communication.

They also investigated displays at the Museum of Science and Industry, experienced "Harry Potter: The Exhibition" and visited Chicago's famed Navy Pier, where they encountered the ultimate IMAX theater experience: the 6-foot-high 3-D movie "Under the Sea 3-D."

Many enjoyed the communication activities on their bus ride to Chicago, the water park at their hotel and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Rainforest Café.
