LCU Red Lions volleyball vs. Knox and MacMurray

[September 09, 2009]  GALESBURG -- The Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University improved their record to 3-2 with a double victory over Knox College and MacMurray College in Galesburg on Tuesday.

The Red Lions, ranked No. 2 nationally by the NCCAA, handily defeated Knox 25-19, 25-18 and 25-18 in the afternoon match and put away MacMurray 25-9, 25-17 and 25-12 in the evening competition.

In the Knox contest, the Red Lions were led by Krystine Schnautz with 11 kills, six digs and four assists; Jamie McFadden, with eight kills, five digs and two assists; Nicki Winfield, with seven kills and one assist; and Adriane Tschantz, with six kills and four digs. Megan Callahan, NCCAA National Player of the Week for the week ending Aug. 31, had 21 assists and two digs.

In the nightcap, LCU was again led by Schnautz, who had 14 kills and four digs, and McFadden, with 12 kills, one assist and five digs. Tschantz added seven kills and three digs, and Callahan had 36 assists and 10 digs.

The Red Lions will be in action again Saturday when they take part in the Rose-Hulman University Tournament.
