[September 09, 2009]  Life on the patient floor at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital can sometimes be hectic. But Judy Sloan was acknowledged by co-workers for handling every situation professionally, leading her to be named September Employee of the Month at ALMH.

"This employee is always professional and courteous to everyone," says Leslee Moore and Marisa Cummings, who nominated Sloan for the award. "She definitely deserves to be employee of the month for remaining calm in the midst of chaos and keeping the wheels in motion to get the job done."

RestaurantSloan, unit clerk in Med/Surg, has worked at ALMH for 12 years. She graduated from Springfield School of Practical Nursing and worked at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield Clinic and for a physician before coming to ALMH.

She enjoys her co-workers and the pace of her work at ALMH.

"It can be a rewarding job because it is always busy and not boring," Sloan says. "It's also nice to work with a very good group of people."

She spends her shift answering the phone and fulfilling orders. Sloan says computer knowledge and a medical background are useful skills for being a unit clerk in a hospital.

Her co-workers also appreciate her courtesy. "She makes ALMH a great place to work. We really enjoy working with her," they say.

ALMH employs more than 290 in a wide variety of job functions. A different employee is honored each month for their commitment to creating great patient experiences, getting great results and making ALMH a great place to work.
