[September 11, 2009]  (AP)  The Mid-Atlantic was expected to continue to see messy weather Friday as a storm system just off the New Jersey coast continued to spin in place.

The storm was forecast to send more cloud cover, wind and rain ashore from the Delmarva Peninsula north to Cape Cod. Strong onshore winds associated with this storm would also send large waves to the region's coastline, and forecasters said late-season beach goers should not venture into the water.

The Gulf Coast states would also see wet weather Friday as a warm front lifted north from the Gulf. A weak trough of low pressure would sweep through Texas during the day, helping to trigger even more precipitation.

The Southwest wasn't expected to see as many monsoon thunderstorms as they had in recent days, but forecasters said New Mexico and Colorado may see some wet weather.

In the West, a ridge was forecast to continue to build over the region, keeping temperatures soaring to well above normal levels, especially at the coast. Another day of highs in the 80s was likely along the northern California coastline, with temperatures reaching the triple digits inland.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of 30 degrees at Yellowstone, Wyo., to a high of 109 degrees at Imperial, Calif.
