Agriculture futures slide, livestock prices mixed

[September 17, 2009]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures slipped Wednesday in early trading on the Chicago Board of Trade after a huge rally in prices Tuesday.

HardwareWheat for December delivery dropped 8.5 cents to $4.62 a bushel; December corn shed 8.5 cents to $3.38 a bushel; November soybeans tumbled 18 cents to $9.42 a bushel; oats for December delivery lost 1.25 cents to $2.16 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef futures rose as pork futures slipped on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

October live cattle added 0.13 cent to 87.35 cents a pound; October feeder cattle gained 0.13 cent to 98.55 cents a pound; October lean hogs dropped 0.37 cent to 53.05 cents a pound; and February pork bellies slid 0.80 cent to 87 cents a pound.
