[September 16, 2009]  Together for Lincoln and the Logan County CROP Walk are partnering to help fill the shelves of the food pantries in Lincoln.

The CROP Walk begins with a walk scheduled at the Logan Correctional Center at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 27. At the same time the Together for Lincoln groups of local concerned citizens will band together on projects requested within the community for repairs, yardwork and other tasks. That Sunday evening, canned goods and other perishable food items will be received in a truck parked outside the Earl C Hargrove Chapel entrance at Lincoln Christian University as worshippers gather for the community worship service following the Together for Lincoln workday. These food items will be equally distributed among all the food pantries in Lincoln.

The Logan County CROP Walk will be on Oct. 4, when pledges and donations gathered by the walkers will be collected. The walk begins at 1:30 p.m. at Kickapoo Creek. Twenty-five percent of donations will stay in Logan County and be shared by Community Action and the Lincoln/Logan Food Pantry.

Workers can still arrange to participate on Sept. 27 by calling Dustin Fulton, 732-9294; and walkers are still welcome in the CROP Walk by calling Tonita Reifsteck, 732-9796.
