 The organizers of the Logan County CROP Walk approached Together for
Lincoln organizers with the idea of partnering to help fill local
food pantries. Since the mission of Together for Lincoln is "coming
together for the common good," the leaders of both organizations
quickly agreed to work together.So, on Sept. 27, community
members who are coming to the Together for Lincoln worship service
are invited to bring canned goods. The food will be distributed
equally among the local food pantries. The community worship service
will be at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Christian University chapel. A
truck and trailer will be parked in front of the chapel, and people
bringing canned goods can simply place the goods in the truck and
trailer.
Together for Lincoln was also approached by Lincoln Christian
Church about partnering in a clothing swap. This is an opportunity
for community members to bring clothes to give away, or to come and
receive clothes at no cost. The clothing swap will take place on
Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Lincoln Christian Church
Fellowship Center. People bringing clothes to give away are asked to
bring them to the church's Fellowship Center on Sept. 26 from 9 a.m.
to 3 p.m.
The Together for Lincoln leadership team is expecting to have
around 100 community projects and 1,000 volunteers from at least 16
churches serving in the community on Sept. 27. People who wish to
volunteer but have not yet signed up should arrive at Latham Park
after 10 a.m. on Sept. 27, and they will be assigned a project then.
People who have already signed up to volunteer should receive a
phone call in the coming week to let them know where they will be
serving.
