[September 21, 2009]  CHICAGO -- Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has named a suburban Chicago village president as state liaison for the 2010 census. Quinn says Andre Ashmore, village president of south suburban Matteson, will help Illinois ensure a complete count in the census.

HardwareFor the state's census efforts a new Web site has also been launched at Census.Illinois.gov.

Quinn says every community in Illinois will benefit from participating in the census.

Census counts are used to determine the number of each state's congressional seats and federal funding.

Census questionnaires will be mailed to every U.S. household in March 2010. The questionnaire is one of the shortest in history, with just 10 questions that officials say can be answered in 10 minutes.
