[September 23, 2009]  ULLIN -- On Tuesday the Lincoln College volleyball team traveled to southern Illinois for a conference matchup with Shawnee College. LC (12-6) lost the match in four sets 21-25, 25-18, 15-25, 15-25.

LC stats:

  • Abbie Hare -- 10 kills, 4 blocks

  • Natalia Florczyk -- 9 kills, 4 blocks

  • Lara Dawson -- 8 kills, 4 blocks

  • Gretchen Rieger -- 7 kills, 10 digs

  • Melanie Herbeck -- 25 set assists, 3 points

On the loss, LC Coach Mark Tippett said: "Shawnee was able to keep our defense off balance throughout this match. Their passing was sharper than ours, which gave their setters multiple options to go to on offense. We played hard and gave it a better effort in the last two sets than the scores would indicate. Hopefully, we will learn from this loss and use it to make ourselves a more disciplined team."

LC travels to Chicago this weekend to participate in the Harper College Invitational Tournament.
