'Cemetery Celebrities: Friends and Family of the Lincolns' at
Lincoln Tomb on Saturday

SPRINGFIELD -- Relatives and acquaintances from
history will be brought to life during "Cemetery Celebrities:
Friends and Family of the Lincolns," a new event scheduled for
Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site in
Springfield. The event is free and open to the public.

Costumed actors will portray John T. Stuart, Lincoln's first law
partner; Stephen T. Logan, his second law partner; William H.
Herndon, his third law partner; Gen. John A. McClernand; Elizabeth
Edwards, Mary Lincoln's sister; and Sarah H. Power, the wife of John
Carroll Power, first custodian at Lincoln Tomb. The event,
co-sponsored by the Sangamon County Historical Society, will take
place in the courtyard area of the caretaker's lawn, which is
located just west of the Lincoln Tomb. The presentation should last
about an hour. Limited seating will be available, but lawn chairs
are also welcome. The event will be canceled in case of inclement

Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site, administered by the Illinois
Historic Preservation Agency, is the final resting place of the 16th
president, his wife, and three of their four sons. It is located in
Springfield's Oak Ridge Cemetery and is open Tuesday through
Saturday for free public tours.
