 Khan has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average while attending
Lincoln College.Mubeen is the daughter of Basheer and Najeeb
Khan. She is a 2008 graduate of Wheeling High School. A pre-med
major, she plans to continue her studies at the University of Sint
Eustatius School of Medicine.
As a finalist in the Coca-Cola competition, Khan will receive a
$1,000 scholarship and has earned a trip to Florida to attend the
national conference for Phi Theta Kappa chapters. Her selection was
based on scores she earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition.
To qualify, she submitted three essays and two letters of
recommendation from her instructors. Professor Chris Gray, chair of
the fine arts program and a Phi Theta Kappa adviser, said: "This
recognition is definitely deserved. Mubeen is a wonderful role model
to so many others."
This is just the latest recognition for this outstanding young
woman, who was also named an Illinois Student Laureate and invited
to attend a formal reception and lunch at the governor’s mansion.
Despite a busy academic schedule, she also finds the time to give
back to the community by volunteering her time at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital.
