[April 20, 2010]
The Abraham Lincoln Tourism
Bureau of Logan County is inviting the public to come out and
celebrate another banner year in tourism. The tourism bureau's
annual dinner will be on April 25 at the Maple Club, 1458 Route 121.
This year's festivities will include a social hour starting at 5
p.m.; leading into a buffet-style dinner featuring roast pork,
chicken and pasta; followed by entertainment provided by comedian,
speaker and author Rex Havens.
|
Havens hails from Peoria and has been performing family-friendly
stand-up comedy for all ages for over 20 years. This one-time
college professor made the unusual transition to comedy and has
always believed that laughter is the best defense against a
confusing and challenging world. Havens is currently being featured
on the show "Thou Shalt Laugh" with John Tesh. To find out more
about Rex Havens, visit
www.rexhavens.com.
Following the entertainment there will be some special video
presentations, along with the traditional awards ceremony where the
bureau will honor those who help make tourism in Logan County all
that it is today. Besides a few surprises, the tourism bureau will
honor the Railsplitter Antique Auto Club and Heritage In Flight,
along with paying tribute to the late Terry Steinhour.
The ticket price for this event is $20 per person. For
reservations, call 217-732-8687, e-mail
admin@abe66.com or stop in at
the tourism office, 1555 Fifth St.
