[April 20, 2010]  Construction work on Nicholson Road, also known as County Highway 2 or 1250th Avenue, is scheduled to begin this spring and is expected to take several months to complete. The roadway will be closed to repair the bridge over Kickapoo Creek two miles north of Lincoln. The exact starting date has not been determined.

The project involves the repair of the concrete bridge deck and a new concrete overlay. The project was awarded to Sangamo Construction in Springfield. The cost of the project is approximately $513,650, which includes $368,344 of federal stimulus funding.

Additional information will be available in the next few weeks when a start date has been determined. The highway department appreciates public cooperation and patience during the construction season as the safety of roads and bridges is improved.
