Gov. Quinn says Brady should release tax returns

[April 17, 2010]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn says it's disappointing that his Republican opponent, Bill Brady, won't release his income tax returns.

Quinn has made public his returns in previous years and said Friday that his latest filing will be made public in a few days.

Brady said Thursday that there's "nothing to be gained" from letting voters see his returns.

The Bloomington senator said making the documents public when he ran for governor four years ago hurt his business interests, which include real estate development.

He said voters can learn about his financial ties by looking at a disclosure form he files with the state.

Many candidates let voters see their tax returns to demonstrate they have no financial ties that could conflict with their government duties.
