Live Nation launches concert business in Australia

[April 20, 2010]  LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Live Nation Entertainment Inc. is launching a concert promotion business in Australia, the seventh largest music market in the world.

The company, formed by the combination of concert promoter Live Nation and Ticketmaster, said Monday it named Luke Hede as vice president of promotions at the Pacific Rim. Hede had served as vice president of international booking for Live Nation Asia.

Live Nation says Roger Field will be vice president of promotions in Australia and New Zealand.

The pair will lead the launch Live Nation's concert business in the region.

The company says Ticketmaster was already operating in Australia and New Zealand for the past 20 years.

Live Nation Australia will be based in Melbourne.
