[April 22, 2010]  The Lincoln & Logan County Development Partnership facilitated Logan County's first manufacturers' council meeting on Wednesday morning. Eight of the largest manufacturers in Logan County participated in the meeting, hosted by Robert's Sysco Foods.

James Senica, senior funding manager from the Illinois Finance Authority, spoke to the group regarding funding options for building expansion or the purchase of capital equipment. In addition, the organizations had the opportunity to introduce themselves and network among each other.

A manufacturers' council enables manufacturers to network and as a result can form new joint projects, thus creating more jobs in Logan County. The Logan County group will meet two to four times per year with new guest speakers. The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 23.

Joel Smiley, executive director of the partnership, said: "The manufacturers' council will provide Logan County with a great business retention tool and assist with expansion of current operations. Statistics show that 70 percent of new job growth comes from existing businesses growing. The council will keep manufacturers knowledgeable with information on new credits and vital information to help make key decisions."

Any manufacturer wanting to become involved can contact Smiley at 217-732-8739 or EconDev@LincolnLogan.com.

The Lincoln & Logan County Development Partnership is the economic development agency for the city of Lincoln and Logan County.
