LCHS freshman students had the opportunity to be part of a dozen different field trips to see community colleges, private colleges, radio stations, businesses, farms and many other different career interest areas. One of the groups visited MTI in Springfield, where students toured the labs and classrooms. The afternoon part of their field trip was to Maxim Inc., which builds sprint car frames. This tour demonstrated the applied welding techniques learned at school and applied to a race car. Maxim builds over 400 frames per year at the Springfield facility.
