Tom Sherak re-elected president of film academy

[August 04, 2010]  LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Veteran film executive Tom Sherak has been re-elected to his second term as president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The academy's Board of Governors re-elected Sherak to the one-year term Tuesday night. An executive with more than four decades in the movie business, Sherak is now working as a consultant for Marvel Studios and Relativity Media. He's going on his eighth year as an academy governor.

Also Tuesday night, writer-director James L. Brooks and actress Annette Bening were elected to their first terms as academy officers -- as vice president and secretary, respectively. Former academy president Sid Ganis and writer Phil Robinson were re-elected to vice president posts. And producer Howard Koch was re-elected treasurer.
