Broadway takes on a new Alice with 'Wonderland'

[August 05, 2010]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Alice is getting a new look in a new Broadway musical inspired by Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland."

Insurance"Wonderland: A New Alice" tells the story of a character named Alice going though some tough times. Her career is in jeopardy. She's also estranged from her husband and alienated from her daughter.

She finds herself in Wonderland, where she encounters characters from the classic tale that help her rediscover the wonder in her life while searching for her daughter.

Tony and Grammy nominee Frank Wildhorn conceived the project and provides the music. Gregory Boyd directs and co-wrote the book with Jack Murphy.

Previews begin March 21. An opening date is set for April 17. The cast will be announced soon.
